I like a softer sleep surface, and I would classify this as medium/firm. I feel that has more to do with the 2″ thickness than anything else. Mine had no smell whatsoever and was fully expanded within a couple of hours. Seems to be good material that probably won’t deteriorate over time (like the yellow foam pads do). My cats give it 2 thumbs up. Yes, cats have thumbs (because they have little hands, not paws). Sorry not sorry.

I already have a 4″ one on top of our Queen size bed mattress, & it has relieved my sciatica pain from my back down through my legs; My daughter (who has back problems) slept on this 2″ one we bought for on top of the light feather bed mattress pad on our sleeper sofa mattress & she loved it!! No back pain when she got up the next morning. It seems to just cradle your body; it’s soft and yet firm!!! I’m very happy with these memory foam mattress toppers!!!
