This Japanese-made mattress pad is a simple yet effective addition to my bed. Unlike thicker, more padded mattress pads, this one is soft, quilted, and approximately 3/4 of an inch thick. The wide elastic corner straps made it incredibly easy to secure to my mattress. I appreciated that it arrived without any noticeable chemical odor, despite being vacuum-packed. While it’s hard to say definitively, I slept soundly and comfortably the very first night I used it. Considering the quality and comfort, I feel it offers excellent value. It’s also machine washable, although the manufacturer recommends using a mesh laundry bag and hanging it to dry instead of tumble drying.

Let’s be real—I didn’t expect this mattress pad to shave off ten years, align my chakras, and have me waking up singing in Japanese. But for what it is, I’m actually pretty happy. It’s not thick and cushy like some Western-style toppers, but it has that uniquely firm-yet-soft feel that reminds me of sleeping on a well-made futon. The stitching and material feel premium, and there was zero chemical smell when I opened the vacuum seal—just clean, crisp fabric.I’ve been using it directly on top of my mattress and have slept more soundly, which could be the minerals… or the placebo effect… or the fact that my dog’s been letting me sleep in lately. Either way, I’m not complaining. It does shift a little unless you strap it down well, so I’d recommend securing it or layering it under your fitted sheet. Is it pricey? Yes. But if you’re into Japanese craftsmanship and subtle comforts, this might just be your kind of splurge.

This pad is compressed while arrived and seemed pretty thin before opened it. Once opened the air will flow in and pump/expand the pad up and make it thick enough to provide a great support while laying on it. It’s about twin size so would fit on twin size mattress easily; however it does not come with holding strap so would take some effort to station it to the position required. This resulted that an adjustment of the pad position would be required from time to time. As a result the shape won’t really stay all the time and require to make up almost every day.

This mattress pad is very nice. It was easy to put onto my mattress with the wide elastic pieces on the corners of it. It is not plump and padded like most mattress pads. It is soft and quilted and about 3/4 of an inch thick. It is a high quality, made in Japan product. It had no chemical smell when I took it out of the vacuum packed bag. I don’t know if I am already feeling the effects of it or not, but the first night I slept on it, I was very comfortable and slept soundly. Very good value. It is machine washable, but they recommend putting it in a mesh fabric bag. Also, they recommend hanging it to dry rather than putting it in a tumble dryer. I can say that that will not be easy. But I’m very happy with this mattress pad And I’m glad I got it.

I am still determining whether or not this pad is for me. It is super soft and I use it on the top layer of my bed and I sleep directly on it. I have noticed that I don’t wake up as often during the night and it is extra comfortable. The only thing is it says to wash gentle into air dry, which can be a bit cumbersome, and I wish it came with a wash bag for the size of this, extra large wash bag doesn’t fit.
