When I first got it out of pkg, it looked all woopsided. Took a while to inflate, then it was ok. It is 3 inches thick, firm but soft too. The first memory foam topper I had was about the same way when I firstwhen I got it around 5 to 8 yrs ago. I got this one cause I needed a new one. There was no strong smell to it. I sleep very well on it & price was very reasonable. If u want a very good memory foam topper, try this one. I believe you will be pleased & happy with it. I am!!
