   We recently bought a tempurpedic bed, and I am a “hot sleeper”, so I had not been sleeping well and was looking for something to mitigate the heat problem. While this mattress pad does not completely eliminate the heat absorption problem, I have noticed an improvement significant enough to justify the cost, in my opinion.Cotton, unlike polyester and memory foam, is a breathable material and having a cotton-filled pad reduces the amount of heat going into the memory foam from your body, and doesn’t trap as much heat between your body and the mattress, so you don’t wake up at 4 am with a sweaty back despite having AC and fans going. It also seems to keep the mattress a little more firm; body heat softens the memory foam, and as you sink into it more of your body is in contact with the foam, meaning more heat… with the pad I don’t seem to be sinking into the mattress as much, which for me also means less lower back pain in the morning.The mattress pad itself seems to be reasonably well made and durable. At first I was skeptical that it would be of much benefit because it isn’t very thick, only about 1/8th of an inch, but it has helped the heat problem. If you’re looking for something with a lot of cushion or pillowy surface, this probably isn’t what you’re looking for, but again I bought this to try to reduce mattress heat and it seems to be effective in that regard.

   We have a zippered allergy cover on our king mattress and I was having to remove it to wash it too often until the zipper finally broke. I was looking for an additional layer between our sheets and the allergy cover so that I wouldn’t have to remove it as much, and this mattress pad fits the bill perfectly. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is pretty thin and not overly “cushy” but this doesn’t bother me since I wasn’t looking for “cushy”. The 100% cotton is great and keeps us cool at night. I will say that it is a bit of a tight fit and the padded part doesn’t quite cover the entire top of the mattress toward the edges. That, combined with the high price, is why I gave it 4 stars. But overall we are very satisfied!
