I always wash and dry my new bedding before use for sanitary reasons but I think when it’s vacuum sealed it especially needs the dry to fluff it up. We have a new sleep number bed and I wanted this pad to protect it. It fits are bed perfectly and the deep pockets go all the way down and tuck under so it doesn’t slip. They are sheer and thin but that’s nice for adequate stretching. It feels quite soft and could be slept on alone but we will have a sheet over it. The diamond stiching is pretty and is done well, no loose or dangling strings. The padding is what you would expect. Definitely not like a mattress topper but provides a little padding. Good value for a quality product.
