This has to be the best made and most comfortable mattress pad that I have ever owned! It is sturdy, meaning very well made, but simultaneously luxurious. Wash and dry before using as the directions suggest, it shrinks a little to fit the bed like a glove.

I have a mattress that came in a box (foam). Because I have health issues, I am trying to clean up everything in my life. On that list is having a healthy mattress. I cannot afford to replace the mattress so covering it was the next best thing. Foam mattresses are toxic & you sleep with your whole body on them. I got linen sheets and this mattress cover. It is cotton, not too thick. I did feel more HOT sleeping on it (I think my toxic mattress is a cooling mattress) but I still would recommend it for your health.

The minute I opened this mattress pad, I was impressed with its quality. It is heavy, solid cotton, and I love the feel. You do have to wash it first, though, as I believe it was manufactured to be oversized to accommodate shrinkage. It fit perfectly and easily on my king-sized bed after being washed. And be prepared to reposition it in the dryer a couple of times, as with any heavy cotton bedding, it will dry on the outside of the pad and stay damp in the middle unless you reposition it a few times. Note: This is NOT a waterproof protector, just a nice, comfortable pad to give SOME extra protection to the mattress.
